The sequence appears in SVT's complete official recording of Den stora älgvandringen. It was captured at about 02:20 on May 1, 2026 by the Näset camera near Kullberg and Junsele while the system was operating in night mode.

The original camera file, lens specifications, depth information and a second camera angle have not been released. Distance, size and speed therefore cannot be calculated. Infrared-lit insects or particles remain possible but have not been demonstrated from the available copy.

The date circulating online was wrong

The repost was labelled September 3, 2026 and described as a trail-camera recording. The on-screen identifiers led to the Swedish public broadcaster's archive, where the sequence appears on May 1, 2026 at about 02:20. September 3 was the date of renewed circulation, not the recording.

The official broadcast contains the lights

The SVT logo, the Näset camera name and Övre älven 039 marker appear on screen. The same scene and moving lights are present in the continuous official recording. This verifies that the sequence was not digitally added to the later repost, although the circulating file is compressed.

One light appears first and additional points then become visible across different parts of the sky. Some maintain a consistent apparent direction and vary in brightness. The limited resolution cannot establish whether they are one object, several objects or targets at different distances.

Night cameras can illuminate insects, dust and droplets near the lens, producing bright points or streaks. That remains a genuine possibility. The available material cannot establish that the lights are close to the camera, but it also cannot exclude that explanation without the source file and camera specifications.

The recording belongs to an authentic SVT nature broadcast and contains several lights moving at night above the river area. The clip alone cannot determine their distance, physical size, speed or origin. The accurate status is authentic documentation of lights that remain unidentified.
