# Eight agencies have transferred UFO records to the U.S. National Archives

The US National Archives now lists official series received from eight agencies, including the FBI, NSA, Air Force, State Department and FAA. It is a concrete step toward a public UAP archive, but an agency name on the page does not mean every record is digitised, open or fully searchable.

## A permanent archival address

Record Group 615 is dedicated to records concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena. The law created a common framework to receive digital copies of releasable UAP records from federal agencies. Establishing the group verifies an archival process, not every claim described inside its files.

## The eight agencies now listed

The current page lists the Federal Aviation Administration, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Office of the Secretary of Defense, National Security Agency, Department of State, FBI and Department of the Air Force. Together they span aviation, nuclear oversight, intelligence, diplomacy, law enforcement and military activity.

## A catalogue entry is not always an online file

A series description can exist while only part of its holdings has been digitised. A record may be downloadable, available only in a research room, partly redacted or still being processed. Each series must therefore be checked for item count, digital availability and date range.

## Administrative records can still reveal the story

The archive's value is not limited to spectacular footage. A distribution memo, reporting form, recipient list or procedural change can show who knew about an event, how it was classified and where it moved. Connecting agency trails may reconstruct a report even when its original imagery is missing.

## What is open in each series

The linked Record Group 615 page lists series with catalog numbers, date ranges and files available for viewing. A catalog description alone does not guarantee that every document in a series is online.

## Sources and context

NARA's Record Group 615 page lists the FAA, NRC, ODNI, OSD, NSA, Department of State, FBI and Department of the Air Force. The collection was created under the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act and is being populated through rolling transfers.

There is no single public count of all expected files, complete transfer timetable or guarantee that every record will be immediately available online. Classified, protected and not yet digitised material may remain outside direct public view.
